Dehoarding and Decluttering Service
Respect My Stuff has received referrals from housing providers, social services, environmental health, family members and self-referrals to name a few.
We also provide a hospital discharge service to facilitate a safe and timely return home.
Our typical goal is to support our hoarding customers to move on from their current hoarding position to (as close as we can to) Level 3 in the widely used Clutter Image Rating (CIR). Every hoarding customer is unique. We will work with the referring agency and the person hoarding to give:
- A tailored approach to tackling the extreme clutter or hoard; including sorting and organising possessions to reduce fire, avalanche and trip hazards, disposal of relevant waste, recycling and donating where possible. We also provide deep cleans where required.
- When working in filthy or verminous conditions this will incur additional costs (e.g. bed bugs, human waste, rats etc).
- A dedicated team of two dehoarding practitioners assigned to each case, providing continuity and sustained weekly interventions.
- Psychological support by our staff (NOT just clearing out) to build professional rapport and trust.
- Optional 3 months of support at the conclusion of the case to monitor and support the customer.
- In some of our areas we hold monthly Hoarding Support Groups. They provide a free, informal, and relaxed environment to those who hoard to talk, learn and support each other (contact us or look out for details locally).
To discuss the process further or to make a referral please contact Jack Moore.
